ALL fashion devotees will get goosebumps at the thought of getting up close and personal with Valentino haute couture that has previously graced the likes of Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren.
Somerset House is currently housing the Valentino exhibition, which covers the decades from the 1950s to today and showcases more than 130 Valentino creations.
‘The Catwalk’, the centrepiece of the exhibition, puts visitors in the role of a model on a 60-metre runway to view an ‘audience’ dressed all in Valentino gowns, suits, kaftans and minis in a complete role-reversal.
Another room features previously unseen personal photographs, couture invitations and images of Valentino. Also featured is the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum, which allows viewers to explore interactive and multimedia content.
The final room of the exhibition goes behind the scenes at the atelier. A series of films show, in minute and painstaking detail, the artistry and techniques involved in making a Valentino gown.
Fashion-forward individuals can purchase tickets at www.somersethouse.org.uk. The exhibition runs until Sunday the 3rd of March 2013.
