Danish Indie Band Kissaway Trail Heading to London

The Kissaway Trail

LAST month at Pillow, we celebrated adventure in all its glory. And on our travels we have found you a Copenhagen–based band who are originally from Odense, Denmark. Now there’s a fantastic mix of culture! Their name? Kissaway Trail.

With some drama and clashes in the past, the once 5-piece band – now trio – are releasing their third album which is more heart-on-sleeve than previous tracks.

Breach is following the success of having the band’s track ‘New Lipstick’ used as the soundtrack to the initial Google Glass promotional video. Currently, it has 21 million views on YouTube.

Kissaway Trail were successful in the past with two well-received records: 2007’s self titled debut and 2010’s Sleep Mountain.

However, they want to step it up a notch.

The trio consists of Søren Corneiussen and Thomas Fagerlund as vocalists and guitar players, and Hasse Mydtskov on drums.

They were able to get to know one another better which shows through their latest music. They are one element who feel excited about their band again.

Mydtskov said: “With this new unity, we were able to be more open with each other, more vulnerable, and really find out what we wanted to do. And what we wanted to do was much more straight [forward] than the first two [albums]: more aggressive, more in-your-face.”

The latest track from Kissaway Trail’s upcoming LP is The Springsteen Implosion.

It is a mix of hard guitar playing and soft vocals with the recurring drumming in the background. Lyrics are repeated which can get slightly repetitive. There is a massive climax during the instrumental finale which could represent the turbulence of the tough time when five became three. Then… there is hardly anything: a sense of calm.

Breach is an album of confession: the truth of the past three years of the trio’s lives. There is experimentation which is needed and wanted from every band.

Breach is out 26th August.

Kissaway Trail will be performing at the London Hoxton Bar & Grill on 6th October later this year.
