Peaches to Screen her Directorial Debut at Sundance London Film & Music Festival

ELECTROCLASH queen Peaches has been announced as the first headline act at the Sundance London Film and Music Festival this April – plus she will screen her directorial debut film.

Musician, DJ, producer, and filmmaker Peaches appeared on the radar in 2000 when she released her debut album, The Teaches of Peaches. Her following LPs Fatherfucker and Impeach My Bush continued her penetration of the sexual and political into pop music. Fourth album I Feel Cream demonstrated the biggest evolution in her music, but her lyrics still retain their intelligence and suggestiveness.

The festival will host the UK premiere of Peaches Does Herself, a film directed and written by Peaches herself. The electro rock opera chronicles her rise to fame, including some life advice she received from an ageing stripper, and stars Peaches, Danni Daniels, Sandy Kane, Mignon, Sweet Machine Band and Jolly Goods.

Peaches is the first headline act booked by the festival’s music programmer John Dunn, a UK music promoter and curator with 20 years experience in the business. He has worked with Live Nation since 2004, worked with bands such as Arcade Fire, MIA, and The National, and has curated festivals including Latitude, The Big Chill, and Electric Picnic.

Peaches said: “I am totally thrilled to be selected for Sundance London. And to bring my live show to town in conjunction with the screening. Peaches Does Herself digs deeper into what I stand for as an artist while exploring the images and misconceptions surrounding my work. It’s been awhile since I’ve performed in London. I always love London’s live energy!”

Sundance London, taking place from 25-28 April, will host the UK and international premieres of independent American films from the Sundance Film Festival at Park City in Utah alongside live music performances and other events. The London festival hopes to build on the success of its inaugural event in 2012.

Tickets for Peaches’ performance on 26 April at the indigO2 is on sale now at www.sundance-london.com. The full film programme for the festival will be announced on 11 March. For more information visit www.sundance-london.com or follow @SundancefestUK on Twitter.
