THE changing of the seasons might bring colder temperatures and ominously dark skies, but we love the excuse this gives us to revamp our wardrobe with a bit of fall fashion. Not that we need an excuse, obviously.
With the major trends for the season in mind, we’ve put together an outfit of some of our favourite pieces. Perfect on their own, or as part of the outfit we’ve created, these items from top designers capture everything that’s fantastic about fall.
Let’s start with cable knit jumpers. Knitwear with a distinctly nautical vibe is back this season and we’re loving the classic simplicity of this navy blue number from Lyle and Scott. We’ve prioritised sweaters over cardigans, but you can stay equally on-trend with a similar button up, cable-knit cardigan.
Wear your knitwear with a plain tee or pair it with a casual shirt, in complementing pale blue. This classic piece from Repertoire Fashion’s collection of Ralph Lauren shirts is simple, sophisticated and stylish. We especially love the buttoned collar, which make it perfect for wearing under a thick jumper.
This season, you’ll be forgiven for adopting a more casual look, provided that you’re not dressing for the office. Jeans are fine, but avoid the skinny variety, to keep things sophisticated. Check out the selection of 7 For All Mankind jeans for some classic bootcut and straight leg jeans, just like these bellow.
Footwear now: we say, stick with what served you well for Autumn 2012. If you cast your mind back a mere twelve months, you’ll remember that suede desert boots, classic brogues and leather boots were the choice of every fashionable chap. And this season, little has changed.
We came across these fabulous, chocolate brown lace-ups from Grenson. These beauties combine elements of the brogue and the desert boot – what could be better? The use of suede softens the look, making these a more casual alternative to classic brogues, without sacrificing style.
Overall, we’re proud of the preppy, all-American look we’ve captured with these fantastic pieces. Now we’re truly excited for autumn!
