Louboutin lovers prepare to swoon. Next year The Design Museum will present the first UK exhibition of Christian Louboutin’s creations from March 26 to July 1.
Celebrating the famed French shoe designer’s twenty-year career to date the exhibition will showcase his unique designs as well as the inspiration behind each creation and the signature red sole.
Admired for their art and theatrics Louboutin’s creations are inspired by performance, cabaret and the showgirl, fantasy, fairytale, art, architecture, film, landscape and travel. The exhibition will examine the way in which he uses these inspirations to design shoes that epitomize style. From stilettos to lace-up boots, studded sneakers and jeweled pumps, each design oozes elegance and visitors will be able to experience the glamour that accompanies a Louboutin.
The exhibition will also display one-off, handcrafted shoes which showcase Louboutin’s innovative ideas, forms and materials. A special section will display shoes
which were designed for Fetish an exhibition at the La Gallerie Du Passage, Paris in 2007 which showcased a unique collaboration of photography between Louboutin and artist David Lynch.
Most intriguing will be an exploration of Louboutin’s design process which examines every stage of his creative journey from the initial drawing through to bringing the shoe to life in the factory.
With most women willing to sell their sole (pardon the pun) for a Louboutin this is sure to top every fashionista’s must do list for 2012. We suggest you start a savings
account now. One look at a Louboutin and all financial sensibility disappears.
