Pastel Nails for Spring/Summer

SPRING is in the air, and we’re feeling sunny right to the tips of our fingers – specifically our nails.

Pastels are always a hot trend for this time of the year but in 2013 there are some exceptional shades out on the market.

Here’s our picks of some of our favourite new polishes.

Bourjois have been inspired by Paris, France for their new collection of eight new pastel shades So Laque So Glossy, on counters in April, which are grouped into quirkily named pairs. Our favourite is dubbed ‘Exhibition in St Germain des Pres’ – a soft neutral shade called 03 Beige, highlighted by a minty green number called 04 Amanda Défilé. They are designed to be worn together so get creative. Visit the Bourjois website here.

China Glaze have created a collection called Pastel Petal Avant Garden (love this title!) in a range of gorgeous, highly-pigmented lacquers. Keep Calm Paint On is a beautiful mint green, Dandy Lyin’ Around is a white, Fade Into Hue is a lilac shade, Life is Rose-y is a floral pink, and Tart-y for the Party is a soft lilac. £6.59 each from Sally Express.

Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique has a range of pastel shades perfect for sunny Spring weather. They are named after girls, so you can choose from Debbie: A beautiful coral shade; Emma: A subtle lilac; Carrie: A pastel pink; or Jade: A mint green. They are just £3.99 each and available from Superdrug nationwide.

The artists behind Brit brand Illamasqua must have been scoffing a load of Mini Eggs recently as their new lacquers as part of their I’mPerfection range look exactly like the sweet treats. In truth, their limited edition Speckled Nail Varnish have been inspired by real birds; eggs, and the beauty of their outer shells. With gorgeous packaging and names such as Fragile, Fragile, Mottle, Scarce and Speckle, they really are something special. They are £14.50 and available here.

The Spring collection from Seche is called Prim and Polished. We’ve tried the baby pink shade, Dainty Decadence and don’t be expecting any wishy-washy formulation here – the colour pay-off is intense. They are £9.95 each and available here.

butterLONDON’s Sweetie Shop Lacquer Collection for Spring has been include by the soft pastel shades of candy floss, milkshakes and macaroons – conjuring up the most amazing visual! The whole range is stunning. They are £12 and available here.
