TEAM Pillow Mag has been addicted to the US edition of new model competition The Face – especially entranced by the antics of mentor Naomi Campbell.
From threatening to send girls from her own team home (it’s a bit like The Voice, but with gazelle-like girls and no singing) and scaring fellow panellists Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova, through to the fact that NO ONE in the fashion industry will cross Naomi Campbell, it’s compelling viewing.
Now the format is being brought to the UK, and Naomi is on board to whip British girls into shape. Hurrah!
It’s not yet been announced who the other supermodels on the panel will be.
Pray for Kate Moss.
Executive Producer Naomi Campbell said, “I am looking for the ultimate model. It doesn’t matter where you are from or who you are, The Face is about one thing.
“I’m looking for contestants who have the whole package – a beautiful face, great body, unique look, confidence, drive and passion, the ability to change and transform a willingness to follow direction, and, above all, a strong work ethic.
“Bringing the show over from the US is a real honour and it’s great to be working with Princess Productions and Shine TV– UK talent is world class, so I’m really looking forward to uncovering our next rising star. The show is a real insight into the modelling world, it’s authentic and fast paced”.
One of the five original 80s supers, Campbell was born in London and got her big break when she was 15 years old.
She has graced the covers of more than 500 magazines during her career, and was the first black model to be on the cover of Time and French Vogue.
Naomi has worked on various campaigns for the likes of Burberry, Chanel, Prada, Versace, Azzedine Alaia, Dolce and Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Valentino.
Naomi has also showcased the collections of top designers, including Chanel, Christian Dior, Versace, Vivienne Westwood, Rifat Osbek, Jasper Conran and John Galliano.
Auditions are being held around the country NOW. Female models 18 years or older, with or without previous experience who want to apply should email: thefacecasting@princesstv.com, or call 020 7985 1803 / 0757 223 8368.
