CHRISTMAS is the definitive party season, and in my eyes gives everyone a perfect excuse to try some new booze that you’ve never tried before.
While I gorge myself on Mulled Cidre and festive glasses of white wine (it’s festive if it’s in front of the telly on a cold night… right?!) my other half has a penchant for whisky.
When I told him that The Ardmore Single Malt had launched The Ardmore Port Wood Finish he was really intrigued to try it out.
The official guide says it has, “Initial nose of strawberries and summer fruits with a hint of pepper. Notes of burnt orange and cinnamon spice underlie. With water, the rich fruit aromas of red apple and cranberry intensify accompanied by sweet honey and subtle spiced wood notes.”
My whisky-mad other half reports that it was deliciously smokey and fruity and smooth. It neatly avoids the harsh aftertaste of some cask whiskies.
